Green Iguana (Iguana iguana).. Sarapiqui, Heredia, Costa Rica. Though widely distributed and a popular pet, its native range is southern Mexico to central Brazil, Paraguay, and Bolivia and the Caribbean. CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora) tries to ensure that trade in the species is restricted, to preserve the wild population.
